[finding] ~30 prose carriers still name the retired check:type-source-resolution, several in the present tense and now false #18955
Claim: PM loop round 1
Session: session_01JAhu8u8QfBvRjVZDox7CP9
Account: os-bill (the seat's linked user as GET /user answers it; the card's assignee from this act)
Branch: claude/issue-18955-retired-type-source-gate-prose
Worktree: objectstack-issue-18955
Domain: domain:devx
Seat: domain:devx#2 (seat post #20163)
File surface:
Comments and prose only, in the non-CHANGELOG files on origin/main05be35259 that name check:type-source-resolution / check-type-source-resolution.
This seat's single-line reading: 41 files with CHANGELOGs, under packages/**/tsconfig*.json, scripts/**, examples/** and docs/**.
⛔ No packages/*/CHANGELOG.md (release-owned). ⛔ No executable line.
Stop on breach and explain in the report.
Container & model: M, mode:subagent, default tier (dispatch-gates --tier at 05be35259: no path-derived mandate; line-by-line present-tense vs historical judgment)
Clause-②: no
Thread-read: 5727982970
Serial constraints cleared:
At origin/main05be35259, no open PR touches any file of that set except the Version Packages PR chore: version packages #20639, whose hits are CHANGELOGs and package.json only (14 open PRs, every file read).
Note: this card reports 3 comments, but only 5727982970 is readable through REST or MCP; the other two (the triage correction among them) are not served.

"summary": "Premise confirmed at origin/main 05be35259: scripts/check-type-source-resolution.mjs is absent (deleted by 03b7b8187, the #18946 merge), yet 65 mentions in 41 files still named it (wrap-flattened count, 0 wrapped; matches the PM's single-line 64 lines / 41 files). Nothing replaced it for this rule: ruling item 3 on #18373 lists turbo ^build ordering, the #16529 content stamp and accepted editor staleness, and no script under scripts/ reads tsconfig compilerOptions.paths. So every present-tense claim was rewritten to the past tense with the retirement (2026-09-18, #18373), plus 'no gate checks this rule now' where a paths rule's reason leaned on the gate. No guard was invented. Line by line: 34 named sites rewritten; 31 left (19 scripts that #18946 already repaired or that are dated measurements, 3 docs records, 5 CHANGELOGs out of surface, 3 dated/history clauses in tsconfig/test prose, and 1 executable assertion string fenced by the dispatch). Four same-block sentences that refer to the gate without naming it were also rewritten. The diff is comment-only (27 files, +135/-99) and is proven so: 20/20 tsconfigs parse config-identical to base, and 7/7 .ts/.js print an identical comment-stripped AST. Draft PR #20996 lists every site with its verdict and carries skip-changeset plus assignee os-bill. Card thread: REST served 2 comments (5727982970, and the Claim 5922172869 naming this branch, which I verified as the newest Claim); the triage correction 5727366738 is not served, and its gist was read from the body's warning line.",
"tests": "All at final commit 2e3315f7b0. (1) dispatch-gates --commands (no paths, merge-base 05be35259) derived 67 commands. All 67 ran with exit codes captured before any pipe: 58 exit 0 and 9 exit 3 PREREQUISITE NOT MET (skill-examples, dts-closure, dual-build-cjs-loads, i18n, i18n-coverage, i18n-walk-parity, lean-entry-closure, sourcemap-no-sources-content, type-check-debt). Those 9 read build output, there is no build in the worktree, and they are declared to CI. --ran reconciliation: '67 derived famil(ies) accounted for — 58 run, 9 NOT-MEASURED (9 DERIVED from a recorded exit 3)'. Key verdict lines: check:nul-bytes 'OK (scanned 9602 text file(s) ... no raw ASCII control bytes)'; check:type-check-coverage 'OK — 76/80 workspace packages type-checked'; check-issue-citations 'no issue citations added against 05be35259 (0 file(s) read)'. That 0 is correct: its surfaces are the release pages and non-test packages/**/src/**/*.ts(x), and none of my paths fall there; #18373 resolves as an issue by REST read. (2) Comment-only proof. TypeScript parseConfigFileTextToJson gives configEqual=true on 20/20 tsconfigs (negative control: an unclosed comment sets the error). createPrinter removeComments gives an identical AST on 7/7 .ts/.js (controls: a code change is detected, a comment change prints equal). A first attempt with the context-free token scanner gave a false DIFF on run-dev.js (it lost template context), so it was discarded as the wrong instrument. (3) eslint --no-inline-config --format json on all 27 paths: 7 linted with 0 errors / 0 warnings; 20 tsconfig*.json are outside eslint's population by its own message ('no matching configuration'); eslint.config.mjs:326-328 never enables type-aware linting, so untouched files cannot move. (4) Control-byte grep over the 27 files: 0 lines (planted \\x01 control found). (5) Repair control: a single-line scan for the gate name followed by a present-tense verb finds 19 lines at 05be35259 and 0 at HEAD. (6) Package test/typecheck: NOT MEASURED locally and declared to CI. Narrowing proof: (2) shows the compiled programs and test code are unchanged. (7) skip-changeset measured: touched packages ship files [dist, README.md, CHANGELOG.md]; tests are excluded from builds; npm pack --dry-run of packages/cli lists bin/run.js (positive control) and not bin/run-dev.js. No ablation is owed: no new assertion or gate.",

Fixes stays true. The test only changes what it prints on failure, and check:cli-test-child-env re-runs.",
"B: change the PR's first line to 'Part of #18955' (a seat body edit) and leave the card open for the string.",
"C: land as is and accept the residual; the message is shown only when the pin fails."
],
"recommendation": "A. Business need: the message is read by the developer whose child env trips the pin, so a false 'sees' sends them to a gate that is gone. Long-term: one family closed in one PR rather than a card left open for one string. Anti-AI-error: an agent reading the failure would try to run a retired gate. Startup focus: zero new surface, one literal, no gate added. B keeps a card open for one line; C leaves a known-false sentence on purpose."

File surface amended for claim 5922172869: one assertion-message string joins it · domain:devx seat 2 · 2026-10-01T01:01Z
Answering open_questions[0] of the dev report on this card (PR #20996): A.
packages/cli/src/commands/child-env-source-loader.pin.test.ts:288 is the same defect: a present-tense, now half-false sentence naming the retired gate. It sits in an expect() failure-message string, which the claim's "no executable line" fence kept out.
The bounded in-place fix holds on all four conditions:
the same defect class;
a mechanical rewrite to the past tense with the retirement;
no other claim or open PR holds the file;
the same gate family (check:cli-test-child-env), so no new verification surface.
The string changes only what the pin prints when it fails; it asserts nothing new.
Amended surface: that one string literal, past tense only. ⛔ No other executable line, and ⛔ the assertion itself is unchanged.
Fixes #18955 stays true once it lands. The patch round goes to the original dev, on the same branch and PR.

"summary": "Patch round done. The worktree was recreated from the remote branch head 2e3315f7b0 (local = remote, no newer head), and one commit was added on top: 850ae40280, pushed fast-forward with no force. The expect() failure message in packages/cli/src/commands/child-env-source-loader.pin.test.ts, relocated by content to lines 289-290 (288 at base), now reads 'Neither check:type-source-resolution (types axis, retired 2026-09-18) nor check:test-source-alias (vitest axis) saw this; they were both green while it was broken.' That sentence spans two adjacent string-literal operands of the one message, so both operands changed and nothing else did; the assertion and every other executable line are unchanged (proof in tests). Every one of the 65 mentions now has a verdict and none is left as a residual: 35 rewritten, 30 left as history or out of surface. Fixes #18955 holds. Per instruction, the PR body was not PATCHed: the exact replacement text is in pr_body_replacements (13 edits; I applied them to a local copy and it checks out: every old string matched exactly once, 0 angle brackets).",

Exactly 2 literals differ: #42 at line 289 and #43 at line 290, both operands of the second argument of ONE expect() call. Verdict 'PROOF HOLDS'. Negative controls on the same file: changing toEqual([]) gives 'differing literals 0 ... PROOF FAILS' (skeleton differs); changing the it() title literal gives '(SOME OUTSIDE) PROOF FAILS'. (2) The other 26 paths are re-proven against base: 20/20 tsconfigs config-identical, and 6/7 .ts/.js comment-stripped AST identical (the seventh is the file in 1). "The amended surface says 'exactly ONE string literal'. The sentence is in one expect() message, but in source it spans two adjacent string-literal operands (lines 289 and 290); the dispatch's own example wording ('... saw this') needs the second one. I edited both operands, only within that sentence, and the proof shows those 2 literals are the only change. I considered editing line 289 alone and rejected it: that would keep the present-tense 'sees', against 'rewrite it to the past tense'.",

Reviewer of record: session_01JAhu8u8QfBvRjVZDox7CP9. Checked against the diff and GitHub, not against the report's prose (dev reports os-dev-report round 1, and patch round 5922781860).
Shape:
The PR is a draft against main. Its body opens Fixes #18955, then Clause-②: no. skip-changeset is right: the touched packages ship dist, README.md and CHANGELOG.md only, and npm pack --dry-run of packages/cli lists no bin/run-dev.js. The assignee is os-bill.
27 files (+135 −99), all comments and prose under examples/ and packages/. No governed path, no review face, no CHANGELOG.
Dated measurements and history are left. The body lists all 65 mentions with a verdict each (35 rewritten, 30 left with reasons).
Sampled by this seat:packages/client/tsconfig.json and packages/plugins/plugin-auth/tsconfig.json. These are the card's named present-tense sites, and each now reads as true.
Patch round: the one expect() failure message, admitted to the surface in 5922590244, changed in exactly two adjacent string-literal operands (850ae40280, +2 −2). The assertion itself is unchanged.
Comment-only proof, from the report: 20/20 tsconfigs are config-identical, 6/7 .ts/.js print an identical comment-stripped AST, and the seventh differs only in those two literals. Each check has negative controls. The pin file passes 4/4 under the verify lock.
PR body: this seat applied the dev's 13 body edits (each old string matched exactly once) and read them back byte-identical.
Out-of-scope: three stale or optional notes with no carrier, kept as Acceptance notes.
Landing: CI on 850ae40280 was converging at this stamp. This seat lands it through the queue once every check is green.

Card thread: REST served 2 comments (5727982970, and the Claim 5922172869 naming this branch, which I verified as the newest Claim); the triage correction 5727366738 is not served, and its gist was read from the body's warning line.", "tests": "All at final commit 2e3315f7b0. File surface amended for claim
5922172869: one assertion-message string joins it ·domain:devxseat 2 · 2026-10-01T01:01ZAnswering
open_questions[0]of the dev report on this card (PR #20996): A.packages/cli/src/commands/child-env-source-loader.pin.test.ts:288is the same defect: a present-tense, now half-false sentence naming the retired gate. It sits in anexpect()failure-message string, which the claim's "no executable line" fence kept out.check:cli-test-child-env), so no new verification surface.Fixes #18955stays true once it lands. The patch round goes to the original dev, on the same branch and PR.Generated by Claude Code
