commit 7914992 upstream. commit 8f61d48 upstream. The cxl-cli unit test for firmware update does operations like starting an asynchronous firmware update, making sure it is in progress, and attempting to cancel it. In some cases, such as with no or minimal dynamic debugging turned on, the firmware update completes too quickly, not allowing the test to have a chance to verify it was in progress. This caused a failure of the signature: expected fw_update_in_progress:true test/cxl-update-firmware.sh: failed at line 88 Fix this by adding a delay (~1.5 - 2 ms) to each firmware transfer request handled by the mocked interface. commit 4d75876 upstream. The component registers of a component may not exist and cxl_setup_comp_regs() will fail for that reason. In another case, Software may not use and set those registers up. cxl_setup_comp_regs() is then called with a base address of CXL_RESOURCE_NONE. Both are valid cases, but the function returns without initializing the register map. Now, a missing component register block is not necessarily a reason to fail (feature is optional or its existence checked later). Change cxl_setup_comp_regs() to also use components with the component register block missing. Thus, always initialize struct cxl_register_map with valid values, set @dev and make @resource CXL_RESOURCE_NONE. The change is in preparation of follow-on patches. commit f05fd10 upstream. Restricted CXL host (RCH) downstream port AER information is not currently logged while in the error state. One problem preventing the error logging is the AER and RAS registers are not accessible. The CXL driver requires changes to find RCH downstream port AER and RAS registers for purpose of error logging. RCH downstream ports are not enumerated during a PCI bus scan and are instead discovered using system firmware, ACPI in this case.[1] The downstream port is implemented as a Root Complex Register Block (RCRB). The RCRB is a 4k memory block containing PCIe registers based on the PCIe root port.[2] The RCRB includes AER extended capability registers used for reporting errors. Note, the RCH's AER Capability is located in the RCRB memory space instead of PCI configuration space, thus its register access is different. Existing kernel PCIe AER functions can not be used to manage the downstream port AER capabilities and RAS registers because the port was not enumerated during PCI scan and the registers are not PCI config accessible. Discover RCH downstream port AER extended capability registers. Use MMIO accesses to search for extended AER capability in RCRB register space. commit 6777877 upstream. The CXL driver plans to use cper_print_aer() for logging restricted CXL host (RCH) AER errors. cper_print_aer() is not currently exported and therefore not usable by the CXL drivers built as loadable modules. Export the cper_print_aer() function. Use the EXPORT_SYMBOL_NS_GPL() variant to restrict the export to CXL drivers. The CONFIG_ACPI_APEI_PCIEAER kernel config is currently used to enable cper_print_aer(). cper_print_aer() logs the AER registers and is useful in PCIE AER logging outside of APEI. Remove the CONFIG_ACPI_APEI_PCIEAER dependency to enable cper_print_aer(). The cper_print_aer() function name implies CPER specific use but is useful in non-CPER cases as well. Rename cper_print_aer() to pci_print_aer(). Also, update cxl_core to import CXL namespace imports. commit 6c5f3aa upstream. The restricted CXL host (RCH) error handler will log protocol errors using AER and RAS status registers. The AER and RAS registers need to be virtually memory mapped before enabling interrupts. Create the initializer function devm_cxl_setup_parent_dport() for this when the endpoint is connected with the dport. The initialization sets up the RCH RAS and AER mappings. Add 'struct cxl_regs' to 'struct cxl_dport' for saving a pointer to the RCH downstream port's AER and RAS registers. commit 6ac0788 upstream. RCH downstream port error logging is missing in the current CXL driver. The missing AER and RAS error logging is needed for communicating driver error details to userspace. Update the driver to include PCIe AER and CXL RAS error logging. Add RCH downstream port error handling into the existing RCiEP handler. The downstream port error handler is added to the RCiEP error handler because the downstream port is implemented in a RCRB, is not PCI enumerable, and as a result is not directly accessible to the PCI AER root port driver. The AER root port driver calls the RCiEP handler for handling RCD errors and RCH downstream port protocol errors. Update existing RCiEP correctable and uncorrectable handlers to also call the RCH handler. The RCH handler will read the RCH AER registers, check for error severity, and if an error exists will log using an existing kernel AER trace routine. The RCH handler will also log downstream port RAS errors if they exist. …ev handler commit 0a86756 upstream. In Restricted CXL Device (RCD) mode a CXL device is exposed as an RCiEP, but CXL downstream and upstream ports are not enumerated and not visible in the PCIe hierarchy. [1] Protocol and link errors from these non-enumerated ports are signaled as internal AER errors, either Uncorrectable Internal Error (UIE) or Corrected Internal Errors (CIE) via an RCEC. Restricted CXL host (RCH) downstream port-detected errors have the Requester ID of the RCEC set in the RCEC's AER Error Source ID register. A CXL handler must then inspect the error status in various CXL registers residing in the dport's component register space (CXL RAS capability) or the dport's RCRB (PCIe AER extended capability). [2] Errors showing up in the RCEC's error handler must be handled and connected to the CXL subsystem. Implement this by forwarding the error to all CXL devices below the RCEC. Since the entire CXL device is controlled only using PCIe Configuration Space of device 0, function 0, only pass it there [3]. The error handling is limited to currently supported devices with the Memory Device class code set (CXL Type 3 Device, PCI_CLASS_MEMORY_CXL, 502h), handle downstream port errors in the device's cxl_pci driver. Support for other CXL Device Types (e.g. a CXL.cache Device) can be added later. To handle downstream port errors in addition to errors directed to the CXL endpoint device, a handler must also inspect the CXL RAS and PCIe AER capabilities of the CXL downstream port the device is connected to. Since CXL downstream port errors are signaled using internal errors, the handler requires those errors to be unmasked. This is subject of a follow-on patch. The reason for choosing this implementation is that the AER service driver claims the RCEC device, but does not allow it to register a custom specific handler to support CXL. Connecting the RCEC hard-wired with a CXL handler does not work, as the CXL subsystem might not be present all the time. The alternative to add an implementation to the portdrv to allow the registration of a custom RCEC error handler isn't worth doing it as CXL would be its only user. Instead, just check for an CXL RCEC and pass it down to the connected CXL device's error handler. With this approach the code can entirely be implemented in the PCIe AER driver and is independent of the CXL subsystem. The CXL driver only provides the handler. …ough HMAT commit 2e454fb8056df6da4bba7d89a57bf60e217463c0 upstream. The current implementation of CXL memory hotplug notifier gets called before the HMAT memory hotplug notifier. The CXL driver calculates the access coordinates (bandwidth and latency values) for the CXL end to end path (i.e. CPU to endpoint). When the CXL region is onlined, the CXL memory hotplug notifier writes the access coordinates to the HMAT target structs. Then the HMAT memory hotplug notifier is called and it creates the access coordinates for the node sysfs attributes. During testing on an Intel platform, it was found that although the newly calculated coordinates were pushed to sysfs, the sysfs attributes for the access coordinates showed up with the wrong initiator. The system has 4 nodes (0, 1, 2, 3) where node 0 and 1 are CPU nodes and node 2 and 3 are CXL nodes. The expectation is that node 2 would show up as a target to node 0: /sys/devices/system/node/node2/access0/initiators/node0 However it was observed that node 2 showed up as a target under node 1: /sys/devices/system/node/node2/access0/initiators/node1 The original intent of the 'ext_updated' flag in HMAT handling code was to stop HMAT memory hotplug callback from clobbering the access coordinates after CXL has injected its calculated coordinates and replaced the generic target access coordinates provided by the HMAT table in the HMAT target structs. However the flag is hacky at best and blocks the updates from other CXL regions that are onlined in the same node later on. Remove the 'ext_updated' flag usage and just update the access coordinates for the nodes directly without touching HMAT target data. The hotplug memory callback ordering is changed. Instead of changing CXL, move HMAT back so there's room for the levels rather than have CXL share the same level as SLAB_CALLBACK_PRI. The change will resulting in the CXL callback to be executed after the HMAT callback. With the change, the CXL hotplug memory notifier runs after the HMAT callback. The HMAT callback will create the node sysfs attributes for access coordinates. The CXL callback will write the access coordinates to the now created node sysfs attributes directly and will not pollute the HMAT target values. A nodemask is introduced to keep track if a node has been updated and prevents further updates. commit 6aec001 upstream. User space may need to know which region, if any, maps the DPAs (device physical addresses) reported in a cxl_general_media or cxl_dram event. Since the mapping can change, the kernel provides this information at the time the event occurs. This informs user space that at event <timestamp> this <region> mapped this <DPA> to this <HPA>. Add the same region info that is included in the cxl_poison trace event: the DPA->HPA translation, region name, and region uuid. The new fields are inserted in the trace event and no existing fields are modified. commit e4ff70a upstream. As a follow on to the recent rework of __cxl_parse_cfmws() to always return errors [1], use cleanup.h helpers to remove goto and other cleanups now that logging is moved to the cxl_parse_cfmws() wrapper. This ends up adding more code than it deletes, but __cxl_parse_cfmws() itself does get smaller. The takeaway from the cond_no_free_ptr() discussion [2] was to not add new macros to handle the cases where no_free_ptr() is awkward, instead rework the code to have helpers and clearer delineation of responsibility. Now one might say that __free(del_cxl_resource) is excessive given it is immediately registered with add_or_reset_cxl_resource(). The rationale for keeping it is that it forces use of "no_free_ptr()" on the argument passed to add_or_reset_cxl_resource(). That in turn makes it clear that @res is NULL for the rest of the function which is part of the point of the cleanup helpers, to turn subtle use after free errors [3] into loud NULL pointer de-references. commit 5e4a264 upstream. BIOS can configure memory devices as firmware first. This will send CXL events to the firmware instead of the OS. The firmware can then inform the OS of these events via UEFI. UEFI v2.10 section N.2.14 defines a Common Platform Error Record (CPER) format for CXL Component Events. The format is mostly the same as the CXL Common Event Record Format. The difference lies in the use of a GUID as the CPER Section Type which matches the UUID defined in CXL 3.1 Table 8-43. Currently a configuration such as this will trace a non standard event in the log omitting useful details of the event. In addition the CXL sub-system contains additional region and HPA information useful to the user.[0] The CXL code is required to be called from process context as it needs to take a device lock. The GHES code may be in interrupt context. This complicated the use of a callback. Dan Williams suggested the use of work items as an atomic way of switching between the callback execution and a default handler.[1] The use of a kfifo simplifies queue processing by providing lock free fifo operations. cxl_cper_kfifo_get() allows easier management of the kfifo between the ghes and cxl modules. CXL 3.1 Table 8-127 requires a device to have a queue depth of 1 for each of the four event logs. A combined queue depth of 32 is chosen to provide room for 8 entries of each log type. Add GHES support to detect CXL CPER records. Add the ability for the CXL sub-system to register a work queue to process the events. This patch adds back the functionality which was removed to fix the report by Dan Carpenter[2]. Cc: Ard Biesheuvel <ardb@kernel.org> Cc: Rafael J. commit 3b2fedc upstream. When a device reports a DPA in events like poison, general_media, and dram, the driver translates that DPA back to an HPA. Presently, the CXL driver translation only considers the Modulo position and will report the wrong HPA for XOR configured root decoders. Add a helper function that restores the XOR'd bits during DPA->HPA address translation. Plumb a root decoder callback to the new helper when XOR interleave arithmetic is in use. For Modulo arithmetic, just let the callback be NULL - as in no extra work required. Upon completion of a DPA->HPA translation a couple of checks are performed on the result. One simply confirms that the calculated HPA is within the address range of the region. That test is useful for both Modulo and XOR interleave arithmetic decodes. A second check confirms that the HPA is within an expected chunk based on the endpoints position in the region and the region granularity. An XOR decode disrupts the Modulo pattern making the chunk check useless. To align the checks with the proper decode, pull the region range check inline and use the helper to do the chunk check for Modulo decodes only. commit 315c2f0b53ba2645062627443a12cea73f3dad9c upstream. Add support in GHES to detect and process CXL CPER Protocol errors, as defined in UEFI v2.10, section N.2.13. Define struct cxl_cper_prot_err_work_data to cache CXL protocol error information, including RAS capabilities and severity, for further handling. These cached CXL CPER records will later be processed by workqueues within the CXL subsystem. commit 36f257e3b0ba904f5a4e7fa8dafaa60e88cdd28c upstream. When PCIe AER is in FW-First, OS should process CXL Protocol errors from CPER records. Introduce support for handling and logging CXL Protocol errors. The defined trace events cxl_aer_uncorrectable_error and cxl_aer_correctable_error trace native CXL AER endpoint errors. Reuse them to trace FW-First Protocol errors. Since the CXL code is required to be called from process context and GHES is in interrupt context, use workqueues for processing. Similar to CXL CPER event handling, use kfifo to handle errors as it simplifies queue processing by providing lock free fifo operations. Add the ability for the CXL sub-system to register a workqueue to process CXL CPER protocol errors. commit 02f4f0177d8e7647016fc29f11c1a7bb75bc2182 upstream. The CXL drivers use kernel trace functions for logging endpoint and Restricted CXL host (RCH) Downstream Port RAS errors. Similar functionality is required for CXL Root Ports, CXL Downstream Switch Ports, and CXL Upstream Switch Ports. Introduce trace logging functions for both RAS correctable and uncorrectable errors specific to CXL PCIe Ports. Use them to trace FW-First Protocol errors. commit 3c70ec71abdaf4e4fa48cd8fdfbbd864d78235a8 upstream.
By inspection, cxl_cper_handle_prot_err() is making a series of fragile
assumptions that can lead to crashes:
1/ It assumes that endpoints identified in the record are a CXL-type-3
device, nothing guarantees that.
2/ It assumes that the device is bound to the cxl_pci driver, nothing
guarantees that.
3/ Minor, it holds the device lock over the switch-port tracing for no
reason as the trace is 100% generated from data in the record.
Correct those by checking that the PCIe endpoint parents a cxl_memdev
before assuming the format of the driver data, and move the lock to where
it is required. Consequently this also makes the implementation ready for
CXL accelerators that are not bound to cxl_pci.

commit 524b2b76f365fb90a7f894ac17261ea760464e2c upstream. The root decoder's HPA to SPA translation logic was implemented using a single function pointer. In preparation for additional per-decoder callbacks, convert this into a struct cxl_rd_ops and move the hpa_to_spa pointer into it. To avoid maintaining a static ops instance populated with mostly NULL pointers, allocate the ops structure dynamically only when a platform requires overrides (e.g. XOR interleave decoding). The setup can be extended as additional callbacks are added. commit b83ee9614a3ec196111f0ae54335b99700f78b45 upstream. When DPA->SPA translation was introduced, it included a helper that applied the XOR maps to do the CXL HPA -> SPA translation for XOR region interleaves. In preparation for adding SPA->DPA address translation, introduce the reverse callback. The root decoder callback is defined generically and not all usages may be self inverting like this XOR function. Add another root decoder callback that is the spa_to_hpa function. Update the existing cxl_xor_hpa_to_spa() with a name that reflects what it does without directionality: cxl_apply_xor_maps(), a generic parameter: addr replaces hpa, and code comments stating that the function supports the translation in either direction. commit dc181170491bda9944f95ca39017667fe7fd767d upstream. Add infrastructure to translate System Physical Addresses (SPA) to Device Physical Addresses (DPA) within CXL regions. This capability will be used by follow-on patches that add poison inject and clear operations at the region level. The SPA-to-DPA translation process follows these steps: 1. Apply root decoder transformations (SPA to HPA) if configured. 2. Extract the position in region interleave from the HPA offset. 3. Extract the DPA offset from the HPA offset. 4. Use position to find endpoint decoder. 5. Use endpoint decoder to find memdev and calculate DPA from offset. 6. Return the result - a memdev and a DPA. It is Step 1 above that makes this a driver level operation and not work we can push to user space. Rather than exporting the XOR maps for root decoders configured with XOR interleave, the driver performs this complex calculation for the user. Steps 2 and 3 follow the CXL Spec 3.2 Section 8.2.4.20.13 Implementation Note: Device Decode Logic. These calculations mirror much of the logic introduced earlier in DPA to SPA translation, see cxl_dpa_to_hpa(), where the driver needed to reverse the spec defined 'Device Decode Logic'. commit c268f949e219f9e179558e836f457f6c5fbec416 upstream.
The CXL r4.0 8.2.4.17.7 RAS Capability Structure has total length 0x58
bytes (CXL_RAS_CAPABILITY_LENGTH); the Header Log occupies the trailing
64 bytes at offset 0x18. CXL_HEADERLOG_SIZE was defined as SZ_512,
eight times the actual on-device size.
header_log_copy() reads CXL_HEADERLOG_SIZE_U32 (128) dwords from the
RAS capability iomap, overrunning the 88-byte mapping by 448 bytes.
The cxl_aer_uncorrectable_error trace event memcpy()s CXL_HEADERLOG_SIZE
(512) bytes from its source. For the CPER caller the source is
struct cxl_ras_capability_regs::header_log[16] (64 bytes) embedded in a
stack-local cxl_cper_prot_err_work_data, so the memcpy reads 448 bytes
of kernel stack into the trace event ring buffer where userspace can
read it via tracefs.
Set CXL_HEADERLOG_SIZE to 64 and derive CXL_HEADERLOG_SIZE_U32 from it,
bringing all iomap readers into agreement on 16 dwords. Userspace tools
such as rasdaemon have grown a dependency on the buggy 512-byte (128 u32)
header_log layout in the cxl_aer_uncorrectable_error trace event. Add
CXL_HEADERLOG_TRACE_SIZE_U32 = 128 and use it for the trace event
__array and its memcpy to preserve that ABI. Both callers now pass a
zero-filled u32[CXL_HEADERLOG_TRACE_SIZE_U32] staging buffer with only
the first CXL_HEADERLOG_SIZE_U32 (16) entries populated from hardware;
the remaining 112 u32s are zero-padded, keeping the 512-byte trace ring
buffer layout intact.

This batch backports the upstream CXL address-translation rework (DPA↔HPA↔SPA, including XOR interleave), the CXL Component/Protocol Event CPER/GHES handling chain, and the include/cxl/ header migration to 6.6, capped by a RAS headerlog out-of-bounds read security fix.
