WaqfLedger

Sharia-compliant Islamic endowment property management — finally digitized and not a 400-year-old spreadsheet

WaqfLedger is an early-stage prototype for managing awqaf (Islamic charitable endowments): tracking properties, distributing rental income to beneficiaries per waqf deed terms, and generating AAOIFI-compliant financial statements. It's aimed at mutawalli administrators and Islamic finance institutions that currently manage endowment records on paper or in general-purpose tools never designed for waqf structures.

Features

  • Property registry for waqf assets, including endowments with multi-century histories
  • Rental income distribution engine that applies beneficiary splits according to deed terms
  • Multi-mutawalli administration with role-based access across endowment portfolios
  • Beneficiary lineage tracking for complex, multi-generational distribution structures
  • Sharia audit trail capturing every transaction for scholar review and sign-off
  • AAOIFI-compliant financial statement generation

Integrations

None yet.

Architecture

The project is a single-codebase prototype structured around core domain models: waqf deeds, registered properties, mutawalli roles, beneficiary lineages, income transactions, and audit log entries. Business logic for income distribution and compliance reporting is co-located with those models rather than distributed across services. No external database or infrastructure is wired up at this stage.

Status

🧪 Early prototype / concept. Not production-ready.
