Interactive Cognitive Sovereignty Assessment Tool
ECF Compass is an evidence-based assessment tool that helps individuals evaluate and enhance their cognitive sovereignty in AI interactions. Built on rigorous philosophical foundations (Kantian ethics and Hegelian dialectics) and validated through empirical research, it provides actionable insights for maintaining healthy, productive relationships with AI systems.
Cognitive sovereignty is the capacity to maintain autonomy, dignity, and self-determination while engaging with AI systems. It ensures that humans remain ends-in-themselves rather than mere means to technological optimization.
- Three-dimensional evaluation: Sovereignty, Obsession, and Growth (SOG)
- Multiple assessment types: Quick (5 min), Standard (15 min), Deep Dive (30 min)
- Personalized insights: Tailored recommendations based on your profile
- 8 distinct patterns (e.g., Sovereign Grower, Dependent Learner, Captured Mind)
- Detailed interpretations for each archetype
- Targeted interventions specific to your pattern
- Longitudinal monitoring: Track changes over time
- Visual analytics: Charts and trends
- Export capabilities: Download your data (JSON/CSV)
- Local storage by default: Your data stays on your device

Autonomy and self-determination in AI interactions
- Measures: Decisional autonomy, influence awareness, capability maintenance
- Goal: Maintain control over your cognitive processes
- Range: 1-10 (higher is better)
Dependency patterns and compulsive behaviors
- Measures: Compulsive usage, emotional dependency, life interference
- Goal: Avoid unhealthy attachment to AI systems
- Range: 1-10 (lower is better)
Personal development and flourishing
- Measures: Skill development, goal achievement, cognitive enhancement
- Goal: Ensure AI serves genuine human flourishing
- Range: 1-10 (higher is better)

ECF Compass is grounded in two complementary philosophical traditions:
- Categorical Imperative: Universal moral principles
- Formula of Humanity: Humans as ends, not means
- Autonomy: Self-legislation vs. heteronomy
- Dialectical Method: Thesis → Antithesis → Synthesis
- Aufhebung: Canceling, preserving, and elevating
- Master-Slave Dialectic: Recognition and self-consciousness
Synthesis: The Cyber Constitution framework
Deep dive: Philosophy Guide
ECF Compass incorporates foundational ethical principles that guide its assessment framework and interpretation guidelines. These principles ensure that cognitive sovereignty evaluation remains grounded in values of human dignity, autonomy, and flourishing.
The assessment integrates seven core ethical principles derived from philosophical inquiry into human-AI relationships. These principles inform:
- Assessment Design: How questions are formulated and dimensions are measured
- Result Interpretation: How scores are contextualized and explained
- Intervention Protocols: How recommendations are tailored to individual needs
- System Evolution: How the tool develops and improves over time

Safe Aperture
