Global Coding Dojo! 🌎💻

Join us for a dynamic coding session where we'll practice mob/pair programming, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and AI-assisted coding with modern tools like Claude Code! We meet online most months, and in person in Mexico City when we can.

What to Expect

  • 🎯 Hands-on coding practice with katas like Bowling Game, Roman Numerals, or Gilded Rose
  • 🔄 Introduction to TDD and mob/pair programming with timed rotations so everyone gets to drive and navigate
  • 💬 We work as a small group and choose our language together (often TypeScript with Deno)
  • 🤖 Learn to code alongside AI tools like Claude Code - experience modern development workflows
  • 🚀 Come prepared with tools installed so we can dive straight into coding!
  • 🌎 Connect with developers from around the world in a friendly, supportive environment

What You'll Need

  • 💻 A computer with a stable internet connection
  • 🛠️ JetBrains Toolbox (for Code With Me real-time collaboration & Claude Code AI assistant)
  • 📹 Zoom with webcam ON - we love high-bandwidth communication!
  • 🧠 An open mind and willingness to collaborate!

  • We did the Tennis Scoring Kata, which was super fun.
  • As a bonus, we built a simple UI for a tennis judge to use to score games.

  • We practiced the Mars Rover kata using TDD and Claude Code.
  • We completed Levels 1–5, finishing with multi-rover missions where parked rovers act as obstacles.
  • We added an animated ASCII visualization of a 6-rover mission.

  • We created and practiced the Emoji Encryption kata using TDD and Claude Code.
  • We completed Levels 1 (simple substitution) and 2 (custom alphabet), including catching a sneaky multi-codepoint emoji bug.
  • Important: Code With Me is being phased out — we need to identify a new real-time collaboration tool for next time.
