Capture the 3D dust-map research as a needs-design backlog item: the data is available and ideal (Sun-centered per-parsec extinction density, ~3.2 GB one-time via the dustmaps package), and adding it is an MCPM-clone scalar field — but it's blocked on a sub-kpc render slab (COSMO's near plane is 10 kpc, larger than the whole cube) and an emissive-vs-absorptive compositing decision.
