Probably wrong. Can't run it right now, but this is necessary to find the JSON generation bug in the plugin, and also facilitates parallelization later.

It might be better to set them in the function signature anyway, to allow custom calls.
Might exit too early in states where multiple native offsets are passed at the same time. TODO: exit only when number of unique refs == number of potential positional arguments
