Feature Request: Add a runtime API to toggle buffer limit enforcement

Hey there! Really love the plugin.

Like the title says, I would like to request a runtime API for toggling the buffer limit enforcement. It would be really useful. or if there are any workarounds that I might not know off, please let me know
