An Interactive Power BI Dashboard designed to analyze and visualize comprehensive sales performance metrics across multiple dimensions including time periods, geographical regions, and product categories.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft Power BI Desktop (Free download from Microsoft)

Installation & Usage

  1. Download the Power BI (.pbix) file from this repository
  2. Open Power BI Desktop
  3. Open the downloaded .pbix file
  4. Refresh data connections if prompted
  5. Use slicers to filter by Year, Month, and Country
  6. Explore interactive charts and KPI metrics
  7. Analyze the detailed data table for specific insights

Dashboard Navigation

  • Use the slicers on the left panel to filter your view
  • KPI cards automatically update based on applied filters
  • Charts respond dynamically to slicer selections
  • Click "Clear all slicers" button to reset all applied filters
  • Hover over chart elements for detailed tooltips
  • Click on chart segments to cross-filter other visuals

Data Requirements

Expected Data Structure

Your sales dataset should include the following columns:

  • Date: Transaction date
  • Product Description: Detailed product information
  • Quantity: Units sold
  • Price: Unit price
  • Country: Geographic location
  • Customer ID: Unique customer identifier (optional)

Sample Data Fields (Based on Dashboard)

  • Products include: DOORMAT UNION JACK GUNS AND ROSES, 3 STRIPE MICE FIELDS, ANIMAL STICKERS
  • Geographic coverage: Global sales data
  • Time range: Multi-year data (2009-2010 visible in current dataset)
  • Transaction-level detail with pricing and quantity information

Customization

Adding Your Data

  1. Open the Power BI file
  2. Go to Home > Transform Data to open Power Query Editor
  3. Replace or update the data source with your sales dataset
  4. Ensure column names match the expected structure
  5. Apply transformations as needed
  6. Close & Apply to refresh the dashboard

Modifying Visuals

  • Charts: Select visual and modify in Visualizations pane
  • KPIs: Update DAX measures in the Data view
  • Slicers: Add new slicers by dragging fields to canvas
  • Colors: Customize color themes in Format pane
  • Layout: Resize and reposition visuals as needed

Creating New Measures

Example DAX calculations used in this dashboard:

Total Sales = SUM('Sales'[Quantity] * 'Sales'[Price])
Average Order Value = DIVIDE([Total Sales], DISTINCTCOUNT('Sales'[OrderID]))
Sales Growth % = DIVIDE([Total Sales] - [Previous Period Sales], [Previous Period Sales])
