• Built-in Presets (No manual files replacement!): Select from 4 different pre-bundled audio sets directly inside the popup dropdown:
  • Violin (MIDI): The standard G3-D4-A4-E5 MIDI tones (Default).
  • Cello (MIDI): C2-G2-D3-A3 MIDI tones.
  • Violin (Pure Sine): Pure tuning-fork style sine waves.
  • Baroque Violin (Pure A4=415Hz): Classic pure tones scaled to Baroque pitch (A4 = 415 Hz).
• Custom Web Audio Synthesizer: Switch to the synth engine to generate tones on-the-fly with custom parameters:
  • Waveform Select: Sine (Pure), Triangle (Soft), or Sawtooth (String-like).
  • Adjustable A4 Base Pitch: Slide base A4 frequency from 410 Hz to 450 Hz (useful for 442Hz/443Hz orchestral or 415Hz baroque tuning).
  • Tuning Temperament: Toggle between Perfect Fifths (Pythagorean tuning with a perfect 3:2 ratio between strings, how string instruments are tuned in real life) and Equal Temperament.
• Real-Time Visualizer: A beautiful, glowing CSS-styled HTML5 Canvas visualizer that animates waves matching the frequency and volume of the playing sound.
• Volume & Mute Controls: Includes a slider to adjust volume (from 0% to 100%) and a mute toggle to prevent audio blasts.
• Settings Persistence: Saves your last active tab, selected instrument, volume, waveform, temperament, and reference frequency in local storage. Opening the extension restores your exact previous environment.
• Reduced Permissions: Unused "activeTab" and "scripting" permissions have been completely removed for enhanced browser security and user privacy.

Installation

1. Turn on Developer mode in your browser at chrome://extensions/ (or edge://extensions/).
2. Download this repository as a ZIP file, place it in your desired directory, and unzip it.
3. Click the Load unpacked button and select the unzipped directory.
4. Open the extension from your extension list. Enjoy tuning!

How to Use

1. Click any string card's Play button to play its reference tuning tone. The button turns green, and a glowing visual wave appears.
2. Click the button again to stop the sound, or click another string's play button to switch to it immediately.
3. Switch between the Presets and Custom Synth tabs to experiment with custom pitches, waveforms, and Pythagorean tuning.
4. Toggle mute or slide the volume slider to set your comfortable audio level.
