Summary

  • Append /main to the Attic substituter URL — Attic serves each cache at a subpath, so cache.zx.dev alone returns "not a binary cache"
  • Remove Cachix substituter and trusted public key from nixConfig
  • Remove pkgs.cachix from the devShell
  • Speed up CI by resolving attic-client from the flake lock (--inputs-from .) and configuring the substituter on the Nix daemon before install, so cached attic-client is fetched instead of built from source
  • Push attic-client itself to the cache for future CI runs

Notes

The CACHIX_AUTH_TOKEN GitHub Actions secret can be removed manually.

Test plan

  • Verify nix path-info --store https://cache.zx.dev/main resolves cached paths
  • Confirm nix develop works without cachix in the shell
  • Verify "Configure Attic cache" CI step is faster after first successful push to main

Attic serves each cache at a subpath, so the substituter URL needs
/main appended. Also removes Cachix substituter, public key, and
devShell package since we've migrated to self-hosted Attic.

Use --inputs-from to resolve attic from the flake lock (which follows
our nixpkgs), so store paths are cacheable. Configure the substituter
on the Nix daemon before installing so cached attic-client is fetched
instead of built from source. Also push attic-client itself to cache.
