Based on the ideas and feedback from @jeras in #439 I made some experimental updates.

  • remove GHDL scripts; GHDL is invoked by the DUT plugin script
  • rework testbench:
    • code cleanups and optimizations
    • initialize memory from plain binary file; no image generator needed anymore
    • dump signature from main memory right inside testbench; no more explicit memcopy
