All three jobs pinned runs-on: ubuntu-latest. When GitHub-hosted runners went unavailable on 2026-08-02 (account billing block), this repo's CI had no way to move without a code change.

Switched to ${{ fromJSON(vars.CI_RUNNER || '["ubuntu-latest"]') }}, matching labwired and labwired-core (#749). Default unchanged — routing today is identical.

⚠️ Important caveat for this repo specifically

labwired-vscode has no self-hosted runner registered at all. Setting CI_RUNNER here without provisioning one first would leave every job queued forever — which is worse than the outage it's meant to work around.

The switch exists so that decision is one variable rather than a code change made under pressure. It is not an invitation to flip it blind.

actionlint 1.7.7 clean.

went unavailable on 2026-08-02 (account billing block), this repo's CI had no
way to move without editing every job.
