OCI support of Helm charts is GA, as of Helm v3.8.0. All the major container registries are OCI-compliant and lots of projects have moved to support OCI-based charts.
A key benefit to this project would be the ability to sign charts with cosign, using sigstore for provenance verification. OCI is gradually becoming the de-facto standard, so it makes sense to support relatively soon.
This project uses GitHub pages for chart hosting and quay.io for images, so it is worth assessing the value in publishing container and chart artifacts together in a single registry. GHCR and Quay are both viable options.
