Most music apps are doing the absolute most.
Ads.
Premium popups.
“Upgrade to unlock basic functionality.” 💀
I just wanted to press play and hear music.
Oh, and don’t even get me started on those “free” texting apps like TextMe or TextNow 😭
Open the app → watch 3 ads → maybe send one message → watch another ad.
I did not want that kind of energy anywhere near my precious baby.
So I made MusicX.
It opens.
It scans your songs.
It plays them.
Crazy concept, I know.
- Fully offline playback
- Local music scanning
- Fast search for songs, artists, and metadata
- Playlist support
- Lyrics support through embedded lyrics and LRCLIB
- Background playback
- Lock screen and notification controls
- Clean, minimal UI
- Advanced color customization
No streaming.
No cloud.
No tracking.
No account creation side quest.
Zero nonsense 💀
You’re not stuck with one boring theme.
You can tweak pretty much every color in the app — backgrounds, text, accents, player UI, buttons, and more.
If you want your music player pure black and minimal, you can.
If you want it looking like a neon science experiment, you can also do that.
If you spend 40 minutes adjusting colors instead of listening to music, that’s on you 😭
- Scans your music using Android’s MediaStore
- Everything stays on your device
- Built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Uses Media3 / ExoPlayer for playback
No weird background stuff.
No mystery data flying to space.
No “we value your privacy” popup doing the opposite 💀
Does it stream music?
No. Local files only.
Does it need internet?
Nope.
Are there ads?
Never.
Do I need an account?
Absolutely not 💀
Is my music uploaded anywhere?
No. It stays on your device.
Open app → pick song → play music.
That’s it.
No popups.
No paywalls.
No emotional manipulation to buy premium 😭
