Appearance

A time crystal counter is located in an upper corner of the game's screen (upper right on iPad and Android devices, upper left on iPhone and iPod touch). It displays the number of available time crystals and expands as needed to show the count. Time crystals are saved on the device and shared across worlds. They cannot be transferred between devices unless restored from an encrypted backup. Tapping the counter opens the primary portal's menu.

Time crystal blocks spawn in new worlds unless modified by custom rules. The only instance where a time crystal appears as a loose object is when deposited as a meditation bonus. They cannot be carried in a blockhead's inventory slots.

Where Found

Time crystals, as unharvested blocks in a game world, are slightly glowing cubes of blue and white with a crystalline appearance. They are found underground, usually within caves. It's best to harvest them with a pickaxe, which produces three crystals instead of one (all affected if a gemstone pickaxe is used).

Time crystals can also be generated using a gold pickaxe or spade or received as a bonus from meditation.

Use

Time crystals are essential for portal upgrades, warping in additional blockheads or items, teleporting to a portal, and speeding up crafting tasks or sleeping.

When used to speed up crafting (a "rush cost"), each crystal saves approximately 20 seconds. At an electric bench, it saves about 10 seconds. When regenerating from death, each crystal saves only 6 seconds. The time saved when rushing sleep depends on the bed and whether time is sped up. Version 1.6 halved the crafting time for items, so time crystals now save half the previous amount of time.

It's not possible to spend a fraction of a time crystal; all costs are rounded up.

In-App Purchase

Additional time crystals were able to be purchased with real money at a portal or via the Pause Menu. Here are the available time crystal packages for purchase:

The videos are ads for other applications, services, or devices provided through Vungle. As of version 1.7, there's a ten-minute cooldown before another video can be watched. There's also a per-day limit of about 30 videos. Each video viewed awards 20 Time Crystals. Most videos are 15-30 seconds long and advertise products, services, or other games.
