Edit View
In the “Edit” view that automatically opens when you open a project with Teacher Tool, you can review individual learning events imported from CSV-files. “Edit”-button on the top navigation bar allows you to return to this view, provided that a project is currently open. Sections below tell more regarding different things you can do in this view.
Bottom navigation bar will contain buttons to move to “Previous file”, or “Next file” in the list, based on which event is currently open. “Mark as Done” will allow you to mark currently opened event as “ready to be exported”, so that it’ll be included in next export.
This list on the bottom left side keeps track of your notes within this project. All notes are bound to the project they’ve been created in and are saved in the project’s file. You can use this functionality to add and delete notes.
To create a note, type text into the field above the notes list, and either press ENTER, or click the “+”-button beside the input field. To delete a note, click “X” next to it in the list.
The list on the top left side keeps track of learning events that have been imported into the project via “Add files”-button. The names are automatically assigned in ‘event_X’ fashion where ‘X’ is number. Currently, events can’t be removed from list or renamed. You can view individual events by clicking them.
Objects in this list are color coded.
- GREEN means that this event has been marked “done” and will be included if you were to “Export”.
- RED with a warning symbol means that this event doesn’t have permission to be used with SLIPPS, so it will not be included in export.
- WHITE means that this event can be exported, but needs to be marked manually as “done” before that.
- YELLOW means that this event is currently open, with its contents shown.
Once you view an event you’re shown three sections: A, B, and C. These correspond sections from SLIPPS LERT.
- A is event description.
- B is relevancy description.
- C is details, such as type and location of the event. Every section has an “edit” symbol on the right side, that resembles a pen inside a square. Clicking this allows you to censor words from these three sections to remove names and such to anonymize open text answers.
Note: open text answers lack background color in these sections.
You can select/deselect words that will be censored. Censored words will be replaced with asterisks (*****). To do this, simply click on words you’d like to remove while in the “editing view” of a section. You can either cancel changes or save them by using the bottom navigation bar. Currently censored words will be shown in the “Censored words” list in the bottom left side, divided by section.
These dropdowns are in the top right side of the event view. These indicate currently opened event’s language and country of origin. This is set originally based on current project’s presets, which you chose while creating the project. You can change these here, with the help of built-in search functionality for languages and countries. You can do this by clicking them. Selected country and language will have their respective identifiers exported with rest of the data.
Note: Event needs to be open for this.
This dropdown in the middle right side allows you to attach keywords to a currently open event. Like with country and language dropdowns, you may search for keywords to be added with a help of search field once you click the dropdown. Once you select a keyword, it will be added to a “Chosen keywords” list below. If you wish to remove a keyword from an event, click “X” beside it in the list. Selected keywords will have their respective identifiers exported with the rest of the data. Note: Event needs to be open for this.
Whenever you make changes, the Teacher Tool automatically saves changes to a backup file inside application’s data folder, under “backups”. The backup’s name will be the same as project file’s. You can write changes to the actual project file by clicking “Save changes”-button under the top navigation bar, or by using CTRL + S, or CMD + S hotkey. The notification beside “Save changes”-button shows if there are pending, unsaved changes to the project.
The color of the background indicates the status:
- GREEN means no unsaved changes to the project file.
- YELLOW means there are unsaved changes to the project file.
