Getting Started

After installation, here's how to set up your library for the first time.

First Login

1. Open http://localhost:3000
2. Login with admin / Admin1234!
3. Immediately change your password: Click ⚙️ (your name) → Settings → Change Password

Recommended Setup Order

1. Set Up Library Locations

Before adding books, define where your books live:

1. Go to 📍 Locations
2. Click ➕ Add Location (e.g., "Home")
3. Fill in the address details, check "Set as primary"
4. Expand the location → ➕ Add Room (e.g., "Living Room", "Study")
5. For each room → ➕ Add Shelf (e.g., "Top Shelf", "Shelf A")

Example structure:

2. Add Publishers (Optional)

If you want to track publishers:

1. Go to 🏢 Publishers
2. Click ➕ Add Publisher
3. Enter name (English + Arabic/French), city, country, contact info

3. Add Writers

1. Go to ✍️ Writers
2. Click ➕ Add Writer
3. Enter name in multiple languages, nationality, birth/death year

4. Add Genres (Optional)

Default genres are pre-loaded (Fiction, History, Science, etc.). To add more:

1. Go to 📖 Genres
2. Click ➕ Add Genre
3. Enter name in English, Arabic, and French

5. Start Adding Books!

Two ways to add books:

Option A: Manual Entry

1. Go to 📚 Books → ➕ Add Book
2. Fill in title, author (select from writers or type new)
3. Select genre, language, publisher, location (shelf)
4. Save

Option B: Scan with Phone 📷

1. Go to 📚 Books → 📷 Scan Book
2. Take a photo of the book cover
3. Review/correct the extracted info
4. Search or add to library

Understanding Roles

Role	Can Do
Admin	Everything — manage users, locations, writers, genres, publishers, backup
User	Add/edit/delete books, lend books, scan books, view reports
Viewer	View books and reports only (read-only)

Dashboard

The home page shows:

• Total books, books read, lent out, overdue
• Reading progress percentage
• Books by language chart
• Quick action buttons
