- neet is a terminal app for cleaning and managing your Mac. It moves files to the Trash, never deletes them, and shows every path before anything moves.
- This wiki is a map. Every doc lives in the repository, and the links here point there, so there is only one copy to keep current.
- The sidebar links every doc and section.
- Install neet with the install script, or with
cargo install neet. The steps are in the README. - Give your terminal Full Disk Access for a full scan. See Notes in the README.
- Run
neet. Use the arrow keys,Enterto open a screen,Escto go back,?for help, andqto quit.

| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can neet delete my files permanently? | Your files, no. They go to the Trash, and Put Back restores them. Simulator runtimes and Docker data cannot go to the Trash, so their own tools remove them, only after a red question that says so. See The Promises. |
| Which folders can Deep Clean touch? | Only a short fixed list of cache, log, and build folders. See Allowed Folders. |
| Which folders are never touched? | Your own files, cloud files, keychains, and SSH keys, among others. See Protected Folders. |
| What does each cleanup rule remove? | See Built In Rules and Risk Levels. |
| Can I write my own rules? | Yes, in ~/.config/neet/rules/. See Cleanup Rules. |
| What does Remove App take? | Only files found by exact name in listed Library folders. See App Removal. |
| Why does the scan say "at least"? | macOS blocked some folders. Turn on Full Disk Access, then see Skipped. |
| Why can I not clean from Disk or Large Files? | They are view only, so looking never changes a file. Clean from Quick Clean or Deep Clean, which show every path and ask first. See Quick Clean. |
| Why is my free space different from Finder? | Finder adds purgeable space, which macOS clears on its own when space runs low. Home shows both numbers. See Home and Terms. |
