8x1mm component tape cartridge ...
Plastic spacer (shown in orange) for M2 nuts that hold down 8x1mm component tape. The spacer is 1.3mm thick, which provides for some compression.
@Sources:
@Requires:
- M2 screws (45)
- M2 nuts (45)
- 6mm brass strip, cut to 40mm (2/7)
This fragile part has sprues that strengthen it for manufacture and shipping. You will need to cut these away:
- Separate the two spacers you received. A sharp knife is helpful.
- Remove the sprue shown in red in the diagram above.
- Attach spacer to A3TF acrylic base as shown above, gently inserting the tabs into the slots cut into the acrylic base.
- Attach the F210 screws and F20N nuts as shown. The nuts are staggered and alternate from side-to-side to hold down the component tape gently but accurately.
- Slide two 40mm lengths of MB06 brass strips (shown in yellow) into the indentations near the middle of the spacer.
- Insert component tapes and peel back the pullback tape so that the tape runs between the two brass strips.
- Tighten the nuts very gently so that component tapes slide somewhat easily, but not loosely.
- If your component tape is longer than the acrylic base plate, simply feed the tape through the end slots so that it pokes up "rooster tail style." These slots also hold the tape firmly in place when you use tape reels, as they allow the feeder to slide back and forth without jostling the tape.
