Assembly

Although it's easy to join any two extrusions, assembling them all into a frame is easier if you build all lap joints before all butt joints.

Horizontal extrusions lap joints:

  1. Overlap extrusions for best bracket access (e.g., build the FirePick base upside down)
  2. Orient nut with circular flange facing away from screw
  3. Insert all nuts in extrusion track, with circular flange facing extrusion. Include nuts for all joints!
  4. Slide nuts to joint locations (tweezers work great)
  5. Attach screw to brackets
  6. Screw brackets to nuts and hand tighten to form lap joint that you can adjust
  7. Position and square off joint precisely
  8. Tighten all screws
  9. Flip the assembly if necessary to its normal orientation

Vertical extrusions butt joints:

  1. Orient nut with circular flange facing away from screw
  2. Attach screw to bracket
  3. Attach nut to loosely to screw
  4. Slide bracket onto vertical extrusion and hand tighten
  5. Attach vertical extrusion to horizontal extrusion
  6. Position and square off joint precisely
  7. Tighten all screws
