Automatic Backups
Automatic backups use the configured timer.
Caution
Automatic backups can also reach Retention and Source Cleanup operations.
If either destructive feature is active, confirmation may still be required.
Do not leave destructive features enabled on unattended systems unless independent and verified backups exist.
Set the default interval in Settings.
Examples:
30s
5m
1h
15
15 means 15 minutes.
A backup pair can use its own interval instead of the global timer.
Automatic backups do not open a separate progress window.
Progress is displayed in the main backup-pair table.
The following actions can still require user interaction:
- Target-conflict handling
- Source Cleanup deletion preview
- Retention deletion preview
Skip dialogs does not bypass the destructive-operation confirmation dialogs.
When Retention or Source Cleanup is active:
- A red warning banner is displayed in the main window.
- The corresponding backup pair shows an
R,C, or both markers. - A detailed deletion preview is shown before files are deleted.
- The user can cancel or continue without deletion.
Automatic operation therefore does not guarantee a completely unattended run.
The tray tooltip shows the next scheduled backup time.
- Do not assume that an automatically completed backup is complete or recoverable.
- Review status information and logs regularly.
- Test restoration manually.
- Keep independent backups outside the configured source and target paths.
